Art Materials
The right art materials can yield beautiful pieces that anyone would be proud to display. The quality of the materials used can be a key determiner in how the project will turn out. Cheap supplies can affect the texture and the richness of a piece.
Inexpensive art materials aren’t always a bad thing however there are some items it’s best not to skimp on. Paper is one of these; cheap paper tears easily and can have the wrong texture. Some paper will actually smear more easily than others which is very frustrating when an artist spends long hours perfecting a piece only to have it messed up on the slightest bump.
Cheap paints also should be avoided. When teaching it’s ok to use student quality art materials, but when the piece is destined to be submitted as a professional piece, then high quality paint should be used. Professional paints have thicker pigments making the color richer and longer lasting.
